Cleansing oils use oils plus emulsifiers so they rinse off with water instead of leaving a film.
Step by step
- Start with dry hands and a dry face.
- Use 2-3 pumps and massage gently, including around the hairline and jaw.
- Wet your hands and keep massaging until it turns milky.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
- Follow with a gentle cleanser if you double cleanse.
Oily or acne-prone skin?
Oil-based cleansers aren't automatically pore-clogging, but if you're acne-prone, rinse thoroughly and stop using any product that seems to cause breakouts. The AAD suggests gentle, non-comedogenic products for acne-prone skin.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to double cleanse after cleansing oil?
Many people do, to remove any residue, especially after heavy sunscreen or makeup. If your skin is dry, one gentle cleanse may be enough.
